2. Find a safe cubbyhole as a retreat
About half our house is presently covered with hardwood floors and now most of the rest is being installed with matching white oak. I know - this is not eco-friendly, but this stuff will last many lifetimes so I don't feel too bad about not using bamboo or some-such alternative.
Here are two examples of our present "living space".

Office - escape cubby - catch all room
Corner eating area
Unfortunately this disruption will be for more than a day or two, but we will certainly enjoy the new flooring when it is finally complete. It will take two to three days for installation and sanding, a few days for the wood to acclimate, and then two coats of polyurethane must be applied with proper drying and hardening in between. Hopefully by Thanksgiving we will be back to normal.

HA. get out of the way is right. Not really a pleasant process but it's all worth it in the end. Looking great so far!
Looks awesome!
