I adapted this from a recipe for whole wheat hamburger buns that I found at WebMD. I made some changes and now use it for both bread and buns.
1 cup hot tap water
2 tablespoons corn oil*
1/4 cup honey*
1 tablespoon molasses*
1-1/2 cup whole-wheat flour
1-1/4 white bread flour
1/4 cup Hodgson Mill multi-grain cereal w/ground flaxseed hot cereal
1 teaspoons salt
3 teaspoons Hodgson Mill Vital wheat gluten
3 teaspoons bread machine yeast
- Set for dough cycle
- When dough is complete remove to floured board and shape into loaf, hamburger buns, or both
- Place on a cookie sheet covered with corn meal
- Cover with a dish towel and place in a warm spot (like top of oven) for 30 minutes
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Bake 30 minutes, 25 minutes for buns

The finished product as
a portabella mushroom burger with avocado, lettuce, tomato, and melted mozzarella cheese, with a side of
baked sweet potatoes.
